Hi students and like minded people.
Well the last week my classes have been greatly focused around the liver. The liver is the larges internal organ within the body (the skin being the largest over all organ) and the largest gland. As you can see from the image below the liver is located in the right side of the body just to the right of the stomach, resting just below the diaphragm.
This large organ is very important and vital for survival and the list of functions and roles are vast.
- Glycogen storage
- hormonal production
- detoxification
- decomposition of red blood cells
- plasma protein synthesis
So as you can see its vital that we take care of this organ. A few symptoms to recognise that the liver is under strain is that you could be feeling anger, fear or hatred, these emotions are the seat of the liver. You may find that the whites of your eyes may not be as as white anymore (dull in whiteness). Along with these you may feel depressed have high blood pressure and the list goes on and one here is a link to take a look at. http://www.liverdoctor.com/liver/symptoms-of-liver-damage
So yoga postures that i have been focusing on that are directly aimed toward helping the liver are many.
My main poses have been cobras
forward bends,
cat-cow, bridge,
down dog
and revolved head to knee pose along with others.
Follow my you tube channel to watch my up and coming yoga class (20mins long) that i have designed especially for those people who wish to get into this large organ and help it to heal.

Other way to support the liver is by eating lighter, juicing (i have you tube videos with juice drinks and more) smoothies, drinking water, exercising gently. Things that really harm the liver are smoking, over drinking, certain medication, bad fats and more but i'm going to stop here.
The main thing is that after a winter of consuming food that's comforting and doing less as we going into a hibernation its time to get things shifted so we can feel better, lighter and more energised for the summer ahead.
